Life is a funny thing and Brewing is a way to slap it across the face. Brew! It is the juncture of art, science, and revelry; the noble pursuit that few undertake and even fewer will ever truly understand. To brew is to behold one’s own agency and thwart the restrictions of government and culture. Drink what YOU want to drink! Whenever you want it! Brewing is a way to connect with the microbial world as well as other people. Brewing is craftsmanship that can start a party. Brewing ties us to the seasons and forces us to slow down, appreciate what matters, and take life a little bit less seriously. I brew because it is always an adventure, why don’t you? Here at the club, we want to make it as easy as possible to learn how to Brew. Visit us and see for yourself what YOU can do.
Vice President of Operations—Travis Pahl Greatest Brew—Blackberry Banana Belgian Complexeweizen
As a young man Travis had a drinking problem, he could not afford all that tasty beer he wanted to drink! Home-brewing was his solution to this problem. Now as a chemical engineer and home brewer extraordinaire he spends his spare time crafting recipes for delicious beer and sharing his vast knowledge of brewing. In addition to this he is an avid skier and dual-sport enthusiast. If you have any suggestions for improving how the club is run drop him a line at ubcbrewing@gmail.com.
Vice President of Marketing and Promotions— Jon Pinkhasik

Ben can knock out a fly’s eye at 50 meters with a well aimed piece of chewing tobacco while pounding out an inspirational drum solo. He carved out his drum sticks with his teeth from the last healthy elm tree that was still standing in the region. Beavers and woodpeckers tell their children of his feats. Ben was previously best known for a high school science project that went horribly wrong. It was recorded that he created a super powerful fridge magnet which sadly ripped the pacemaker out of his teacher’s chest. To this day Ben still grieves over the incident always bemoaning the fact that had his teacher lived he would have certainly received an A instead of being incarcerated for 2 years.

Brewmaster—Hunter Larsen Greatest Brew— “Galvarino” Yerba Mate Chai Pale Ale
Hunter is a suspender wearing, tree planting, cascade-hop loving beer master. Despite being from a proud nation of craft brewers, Hunter is still unable to consume alcoholic beverages in his homeland of Tacoma, WA. This did not stop him from making wines and ciders in his closet at the ripe age of 16. Now Hunter has bigger things to do, namely pursuing a BA in Psychology and doing his best to come up with the most interesting and tasty beverages the club could concoct. Brewmaster-Stanis Nowak Greatest Brew—Spruce Ale
Stanislaw has a taste for the homeland. When not enjoying his favorite European cheese, meat, bread, and beer, he is enjoying his favorite North American cheese, meat, bread, and beer. Stan is fond of adventures, even though, as Bilbo said they “Make one late for dinner!”. Flavor design can be a process of creative destruction, but one that Stan is not afraid to challenge. While upholding the Reinheitsgebot in the name of all that is beer, he will fiddle with other adjuncts to make ein gutes bier.
